Traveling on my regular route through Montana, I stopped Wednesday Night in Missoula at Muralts to fuel my truck up and to disembark to meet another driver heading back into eastern Montana. As I pulled into Muralts I saw people standing around watching the fire like it was a big concert they had the good fortune to be able to get a view over the fence to see it. This is what we all saw:

Black Cat Wildfire

Fortunately rains have happened at least briefly in the Spokane area and are moving inland toward Montana. Probably not enough to break this dry spell that has formed the environment for these fires to spread.

The fire fighters deserve alot of credit for keeping homes in these areas from being consumed. Affected areas have been of course evacuated but the structures lost in this particular fire have been kept to a few abandoned trailers and other small structures. Seeing the aftermath of most of this fire, which did reach down next to I-90, it is simply amazing to see that the fire fighters were able to stave off the damage that would have otherwise enveloped and completely consumed several power lines as well as various homes.
